The Gîte @ Le Grand Moulin – in Poursac, Charente.

A place to relax and unwind

The Gîte

The Gîte is set in the mature landscaped gardens of Le Grand Moulin, with it’s own access, parking and courtyard. The pool and large garden are exclusive to you for the length of your stay.

Situated on the edge of Poursac hamlet, at the end of it’s own lane with no passing traffic. It is a five minute drive to the idyllic village of Verteuil-sur-Charente, with it’s 12th century chateau and church.

The river l’Argentor runs along the bottom of the garden and feeds the mill stream on the property. A large pond in the centre of the garden encourages wildlife and the grounds of over three acres provide lots of space to relax and enjoy the countryside.

The Gîte offers a unique opportunity for couples, four adults sharing or a family with children to enjoy this region of the Charente.

We had the best week stay here. The accommodation had everything we could wish for, beautifully clean and really comfy with a fabulous pool, which was well used in the 30+ heat we had!! We fell in love with Verteuil, a very peaceful and friendly place.

Gîte 2

Gîte 2 is only available if you are already renting The Gîte, so that larger families or groups of friends, up to a maximum of eight people, have the option to holiday together.

The large secluded pool (open May to September) sun loungers and lounging area provide the perfect place to enjoy sunshine or shade. There are a number of outside eating areas to use, plus a barbecue. We provide boules, badminton and outdoor table tennis.

The garden is perfect for nature and bird lovers. You may see kingfishers, flycatchers, treecreepers, redstarts, grey wagtails, black caps, golden oriels, heron, black and green woodpeckers and nightingales. There are wild ducks that nest in the pond, as well as frogs and toads. Along with red squirrel, dragonflies, damselflies, butterflies and hummingbird moths.

Please note that the pond, millstream and river are unfenced, and so children must be supervised in these areas at all times. The pool is alarmed but not fenced. Please contact us for further information, if required.
